TEA-SORBATE is graded C (Moderate) by Expert·ING, based on COSING regulatory data. It is restricted under EU COSING — AnnexIII-SAFETY-.
TEA-SORBATE
Safety grade: C
TEA-Sorbate is a preservative made by combining sorbic acid (a naturally occurring compound found in berries) with triethanolamine. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria, fungi, and mold that could otherwise spoil cosmetic products.
This ingredient prevents the growth of microorganisms in cosmetic products, helping them stay fresh longer and remain safe to use throughout their shelf life.
Graded using: COSING.

- POTASSIUM SORBATE — Grade B. Potassium sorbate is the potassium salt analog; same sorbate preservative mechanism as TEA-sorbate.
- PHENOXYETHANOL — Grade B**. Phenoxyethanol is a broad-spectrum preservative with similar cosmetic antimicrobial applications.
